Search

Find accessible content with global search or highlight and filter resource labels in a Project.

The app has two separate search tools. Search anything in the header searches accessible content across workspaces. The Resources pane's search is a temporary label search within the current Project tree.

ToolUse it for
Search anythingFinding a workspace, resource, property, historical value, condition, snapshot, Layer, View, user, or file metadata.
Search resourcesRevealing or filtering resource and derived property-family labels without leaving the current tree.
  1. Use Search anything in the header where it is displayed.
  2. Enter at least two characters. Whitespace is trimmed and matching starts after a short pause.
  3. Use Exact search (the default) or Fuzzy search.
  4. Review the grouped results and select the intended item. Enter opens the first result.
  5. Scroll the result list to request more when Scroll for more appears.

Exact and Fuzzy are search modes, not permission modes. Fuzzy search is useful for approximate wording; Exact does not mean the entire field must equal your input. Do not assume the search accepts regular expressions or a documented advanced-query language.

Results are grouped as Teams, spaces, and projects; Resources; Properties; Values; Conditions; Snapshots; Layers; Views; Users; and Files. The list starts with up to 20 results and increases as you scroll. Loaded and per-group counts describe the loaded results, not a guaranteed total of every possible match.

Search updates while the result popover and app page are active. Loading and error states are distinct from No accessible content found. Use Clear search to remove the query.

What a result opens

ResultDestination
Team or SpaceIts administration page.
ProjectIts data workspace.
ResourceIts canonical resource in the Project.
Property familyThe family's General and Connections Details view.
Property, value, or conditionThe relevant resource and field; supplied snapshot/condition context is focused when available.
SnapshotIts resource with the requested snapshot selected when available.
LayerIts Project with that Layer activated.
Saved ViewIts Project with the View selected.
UserThe relevant workspace administration page with permission search populated.
FileIts Project only; no automatic download or attachment focus.

Wait for workspace data to load before concluding that a detail destination is missing. A changed, removed, or newly inaccessible item may no longer be focusable. User results do not provide a general public people directory; permission lists remain restricted to administrators with the required role.

Global search includes historical snapshot values, not only what the current View or selected snapshot displays. Finding an old price does not mean that price is currently effective. Follow the result's snapshot context and compare with Snapshots and Conditions.

Search permissions and content boundaries

Search returns only permitted results. A Project-only grant does not expose sibling Projects. Layer-only results are constrained to permitted Layer content; search is not a way around Layer restrictions. Changing the current Layer does not turn global search into the pane's local label filter.

File metadata can match, but file contents are not indexed. Formatted-text values are searched as visible text, not formatting markup. Unavailable results can reflect insufficient access rather than absence; ask an administrator about the intended workspace instead of trying to infer private content.

Search the Resources pane

  1. In Resources, open Search resources at the bottom-right edge of the pane.
  2. Enter part of a resource or property-family label.
  3. Choose Highlight matches or Filter matches.
  4. Select a row or property-family entry to inspect it in Details.

Matching is case-insensitive and accent-insensitive substring matching. For example, franc can match a label beginning with accented text. It searches labels, not property defaults, condition values, file contents, or values added to a customized Class row display.

Canonical, linked, inactive, and Alias occurrences can match. Derived property-family labels participate while shown in Normal mode. These entries are hidden in Edit and Table modes.

Highlight versus Filter

Highlight matches is the default. It highlights matching label text in yellow and temporarily opens ancestors needed to reveal matches without removing unrelated rows.

Filter matches keeps matching resources and their ancestor paths, plus matching property-family entries. A retained ancestor is context, not necessarily a match. With no resource or property-family match, the control displays No matching resources or properties.

This is temporary pane presentation, not a saved View filter or a Layer rule. It does not change the Project's resources or permissions.

Close, clear, and switch mode

Closing the search bar, including with Escape, keeps an active query. The closed search button shows a chip to indicate it is still active. Reopen it to edit or clear the query.

Use Clear search to remove the query and restore the tree expansion state from before searching. Search expansion does not overwrite your controlled expansion preferences. Opening resource Table mode clears and closes local search.

For the planned fictional Product Atlas demo, searching Aster in the pane highlights Aster Mini and Aster Pro. Searching 249 in the header could find Aster Pro's saved price value, but the pane's label search would not find that price solely because it is a field value.

When search seems incomplete

Check the tool you are using, the global two-character minimum, active local filters, collapsed result groups, loaded-result count, and your access. The header search is hidden in the current compact-width layout; widening the window may reveal it. Local resource search is not a replacement for global content search.
